I have been coming here for years and always love their fish porridge. It is so good and satisfying. Their dim sum is great for to-go orders with solid options for a quick meal at home. They also offer combos which I think are a great deal. You can get a variety of items in smaller quantities which is perfect if you want to try different things instead of committing to the usual three-piece orders. There is no seating here but parking is convenient since it is located inside a plaza.

Now that I've been back again, I'm standing by that Tai Pan is a fantastic local spot that I will return to and recommend. Is this the best dim sum you've ever had? Probably not, but they've got some stand out items and unbelievable value. Where else could you possibly get 3 dim sum items and a huge serving of congee for 12 bucks? Logistically, they share a huge lot with Lion Supermarket, so you'll never have to worry about parking. I went around 11:30 on a Saturday and there was consistently a line of about 6+ people the whole time I was there. They don't have any seating, so it's to-go only and depending on when you arrive, some items will inevitably be fresher than others as everything is made in large batches. Card is accepted here, but there is an extra charge. Highlights: - Pan Fried Pork and Chive Dumplings (4/5): Juicy chunks of shrimp with super fragrant chive in generously sized chewy dumplings is a home run. - Fried Taro Balls (4.25/5): Unfair as I managed to snag these right out of the fryer, but they were super crunchy with the pillowy, lightly sweet taro balancing out the savory meat filling. - Siu Mai (4/5): Surprisingly solid version that is moist, has a great bounce, and seasoned quite well. Skip: - Chang Fen (2/5): Their rice rolls are unfortunately too thick and break instead of having a chewy texture. - Baked BBQ Pork Bun (2/5): Bread and pork were both fine, but the ratio of meat is soooo low. I get that it's cheap, but this made me sad.

Came by the other day and it was a quick and easy experience. Parking was plentiful in the private lot. Tai Pan is now take out exclusively. They take cash or credit cards with a 3% surcharge. Service is curt and always ends with a "anything else" in an effort to upsell. Highlights here include the beef chow fun which is a steal at $5.3 for a small. There is also a vegetarian option. The pot stickers, when available, are also quite tasty. The pan fried chives dumplings are a hit and they're gigantic. Other highlights include the fried shrimp balls featuring small pieces of lard inside or the fried wontons with chunky bits of pork and shrimp. Their egg tarts are also decent, without the trek up to Golden Gate Bakery in Chinatown SF

I've been coming here for about 6 years now, and I keep coming back because of the convenience and comfort of the food. The Siu Mai has gotten a bit smaller over the years, but they're still packed with lots of meat. As everyone's saying, the service isn't great, but we're there for the food at the end of the day. There also usually is a line, so they'll be going through customers quite quickly. I enjoy the preserved egg porridge and Siu Mai the most.
